Water Treatment – Advanced Micropollutant Removal Using Ozone

These micropollutants, while not invisible to the eye, they can still be harmful to aquatic life and the environment. Removing these micropollutants is hard using traditional methods so developing a safe and effective removal system is key.

Thanks to Primozone’s powerful ozone technology, substantial amounts of water are treated quickly and effectively, removing even the tiniest of pollutants that traditional methods might miss.

How does it work?

Ozone is a powerful oxidising agent that breaks down complex organic compounds and significantly reduces micro pollutant concentration. Ozone is injected directly into the biological tanks and wastewater stream, oxidising organic matter, pathogens, and inorganic substances, leading to improved water quality.

1. Ozone generated in situ by passing oxygen through a high-voltage discharge.
2. The ozone gas injected into the wastewater stream reacts with contaminants.
3. Ozone reacts with ‘oxidisers’, various contaminants, removing micro pollutants and sludge.
4. The remaining ozone decomposes back into oxygen, leaving no residual byproducts.

Case Study

Primozone’s customer, Birmensdorf Waste-Water Treatment Plant in Switzerland, adopted a Primozone Ozone treatment solution as part of a wider site upgrade to provide a highly effective method of advanced wastewater purification. Serving nearby towns since 1973, the upgrade meant the site could upgrade the wastewater for up to 33,000 local people. The ozone plant, consisting of two Primozone GM36 Ozone Generators, enabled a steady stream of 464 litres of water every second treated with ozone gas, reducing the concentration and eradicating micropollutants. The implementation of the ozone plant enabled this client to successfully adhere to environmental regulations and portray a sustainable brand image.
